Back Pain Alleviated with Chiropractic Treatments.

After her initial examination, Dr. Verhunce draws from a variety of chiropractic techniques to provide relief from back and neck pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica and many other conditions. Treatments vary based on each patient's individual needs, pain history, and may include: Diversified Technique, Toggle Technique, Torque Release, Activator Method, Thompson Drop Table, Webster Technique, Sacral-Occipital Technique and Extremity Adjustments.

Many patients are familiar with the Diversified technique, which is the classic form of using specific manual thrusts to restore normal biomechanical function and adjust extremity joints. Dr. Verhunce may also use the Toggle Technique, a quick, light thrust and release of the upper cervical vertebra to relieve neck pain. The Toggle Technique does not involve the twisting positions that often are included with other neck adjusting techniques.

Torque Release Technique utilizes a special instrument to provide a consistent level of force to the neck. The Torque Release technique relies on analysis of leg-length as a determining factor as to where the spinal segmental dysfunction lies.

Different instruments are used in the Activator Method to give consistent low-force, high-speed clicks to the spine. Dr. Bonnie uses this technique mainly with infants who may be suffering from colic, children, and women with osteoporosis.

A Thompson drop-table incorporates the laws of physics and gravity to hold the patient in an "up" position before Dr. Verhunce makes her adjustments. The drop-table allows for precision adjusting by adding tension.

For pain in the lower back during pregnancy, Dr. Verhunce may use the Webster Technique which can help expectant moms establish pelvic balance and optimize the room for baby's development.

The Sacral-Occipital Technique (SOT) normalizes the balance between the base and top of the spine. Wedge shaped blocks serve as a fulcrum which uses gravity and respiration as the force to achieve an adjustment. An adjustment using the SOT provides a an extremely gentle adjustment that is very effective as well.

Athletes visit our clinic for extremity adjustments to increase range of motion and realign joints which have taken a pounding during training and sporting events. Extremity adjustments also help to increase flow of nutrients to the joints and flush out waste products.
